The Long Wait

Description

As long as it takes.

Additional Remarks:

I always want to render characters in water or snow.

Blender's fluid sim is a bit cantankerous, like pretty much everything about Blender (though much is promised for version 2.5). I exported the scene as an obj from DAZ, imported it into Blender, and spent the next hour or so taking advantage of the fact that the fluid simulation tends heavily toward the sticky/blobby rather than the smooth/flowing. I had to detach M4's head and set it to no friction while leaving the rest "tacky" in order to prevent his face being hidden. And even then, I had to add a subsurf modifier before export; the final snow addon prop is close to 50k polygons. The result was not perfect, but it was better than no snow.

Credits:

By me: M4 Fallen Knight outfit, lighting, pose adjustment, snow from Blender fluid sim, minor post work to blend snow, DOF calculation on camera.

Rendo: Love Romance Hair by Bice/OutofTouch
Down and Out pose set
ShareCG: "Ruines" set
DAZ3d: Woodland playset 2 with Winter textures
Prince Albane character for M4 by RawArt
Michael 4
Atone freebie (by RedHouse, I think)

Rendered in DAZ Studio Advanced 3.0 with UberEnvironment and Depth of Field.

Wow. I've said it before, I don't know anything about how you make this, but I'm guessing the snow collecting on his body wasn't easy. Faved
