Slay the Monster, Rescue the Prince by SickleYield Slay the Monster, Rescue the Prince by SickleYield
For fun, and for a thread contest at DAZ3D forums.  70's Fantasy Art girl Olympia just came out, so I had to render a fun variation on one of the old Frazetta themes, which is "barbarian fights snake creature while person nearby is chained to something."  Of course they drugged him before they stuck him in the sacred pool.  It's not as if he would've just walked in there without a fight.

DAZ products:

Genesis (Gorgon)
Genesis 2 Female (barbarian)
Genesis 2 Male (captive prince)
RAwArt's Gorgon for Genesis
Olympia G2F
Nidale for Olympia skin/partial face
Curvaceous Olympia expansion (clothes on G2M and G2F, morphs on female)
Kalypso Hair (female_
Mermaid Clothing G2F (gorgon's top)
The Drowning Pool

Rendo:

SAV Alpha Hair (on G2M)
SY Torso Jewels G (nip shields)
SY Agile Tongues G
PD Carmen (on G2M, with my SSS shader)

Postwork in the GIMP for water effects; bless G'MIC and the filters thereof.  Rendered in DAZ Studio 4.6 pro.  Reuploaded 01/01/2014 to touch up ripples with new brushes I found.

Wow.  Between the lighting, the water, the posing, and the details like the sword, I just don't know where to begin.  Very nice.  Thank you for sharing.

Maybe he's kinda dumb and ol' snake-witch said "hey look...BOOBS!" then had a handy assistant thump him one!

That's nice! The colors are just plain awesome, along with the lighting.
I can't wait to get some money scrounged up so I can get Olympia, I really like that character.

Nice work, though .... in viewing at the thumbnail level I see the title as "Slay the monster, Rescue the ... SickleYield"!!! :)

Psh, if there's any rescuing to be done, I'll be doing it. :D

Although ideally I see me and my wizard being the rescuers of some third party who will then be handed back over to whoever lost them in the first place, for a fee.  Then we cavort gaily in a pavilion made of fluffy pillows...

Oh, sorry.  Got distracted there for a moment. ;)  I will find that wizard one day...

LOL.  I kind of know how you feel.  I tended to play the 'token mage' in RPGs and I cannot recall the number of times the 'weedy wizard' has pulled the party's buns out the fire ;)

The D&D wizard is both a very powerful and a very fragile character, and I've always liked that. :)  But then, I have a good friend who is the one who taught me to roleplay, and his wizards and sorcs are always very memorable personalities (not Boreass McOmnipotent characters like Elminster, for instance).

Elminster wasn't a Player Character, don't forget; NPC's tended to be whatever the rule makers of the core books wanted them to be, rather than something that actually followed the rules. Although, I will admit that the 3.5E rules could be rather creatively interpreted as well.

Eh, well, Drizz't wasn't a player character either, but he's also an overly-imitated Mary Sue.  I am suspicious of overpowered canon characters in general.

Agreed about that, which I think was part of the motivation behind the radical revamp of the D&D rules a few years back.

Mine tend not to be so either and have useful lateral thinking .... like saving the floundering underwater party from a megaladon attack when I had no offensive spells - luckily the beastie failed it's save against the Levitate spell :)

That sounds EPIC.

Also, you have a DM who used freakin' megalodon.  Which is also epic.

It's the sort of thing I love to do. :)  Maybe it's not a "new" idea, but it's one that doesn't happen often enough for my preferences.

Have you ever heard of the "Chicks In Chainmail" anthology series? I'm sure you'd find any number of inspirations for art like this in all of the books.

I liked the first one.  I felt that the others kind of degenerated gradually into male fanservice amazon content.
