The Flesh Beast texture and one of the poses for the Mother Beast from the ongoing Singers of Chzor project.  The base 10 poses are done for all pieces, and now I'm working on the texture expansion to give myself a break from posing until it's time to do the pose expansion.  The third expansion to make up the bundle will probably be eggs and egg sacs, and basic poses to go with them.

It's alive! The veins, highlights and pink rim color look great. All those touches really help to separate all the tentacles.

I'm afraid not.  Poser does not have bone multi-selection for posing, so using it would be nearly impossible, and that's even if I could get functional companion files made for it (which is highly unlikely).  A Poser native version would never happen because there's no way I could ever create these long bone chains in the program - something like EasyPose Underground and its equivalents are completely inadequate to the sheer number of bones involved.

And of course there's the issue of materials, and doing Poser promos, which I don't want to do either; but those pale in comparison to the other issues.  When I do a simplified tentacle jelly creature for Renderosity, something with fewer bones and simpler materials, I may be able to figure out a workflow; but it will still be via DSON companion files, never Poser native.

Hmm. This reminds me of a Man Eating Tree/Ya-Te-Veo if it was given the right textures.

If I hadn't been so disappointed in Ya-Te-Veo this project might not have happened, actually!  It was very nice of the maker to share it for free, but I wanted more bones, more arms, and different textures.

Are each one of the arms on yours rigged separately?

You better believe it.  24 arms, 93 bones each, around 2200 for the full figure.  It's time-consuming to pose the whole thing from scratch, but there's deep functionality for those wanting to do more specific things, and that's always been my product design philosophy.  The main set comes with 10 poses and one of the expansions will have 20.  That's not done yet, right now I'm working on the expansion textures.

The others aren't as huge rig-wise as the big mama.  The larva has 10 legs with around 40 bones each so it can be tentacular or insectile, the tentacle of course has around 90 in one straight line, and the polyp has... lessee... I think 4. :D

Sweet cheesus, and you're still alive? I think I'd have died somewhere during all that rigging. :o
